pivo

I'm hiding my face because it's illegal innit.
Pivo is an artist from Chicago living and working in London. She never went to art school, has never had an exhibition in a gallery, doesn't have the money to rent a studio and she doesn't really care about any of these things (well, except maybe the studio part). The majority of her work is wheat pasted out on streets around the world but she has had some work featured in less impermanent places like this. She is the founder of the Caged Bird Club

The 4 part process: 1) From small to large drawing on the bedroom door of a tiny one bedroom London flat 2) printed, cut out and ready to hang 3) wheat pasted up on an appropriate wall 4) scraped down by some busybody neighbor (not pictured)

Pivo uses paper, markers, recycled paint and other recycled materials to create her art. The stencils for the dress worn by her grandmother in this piece were made from recycled bike tires. She hangs her art with wheat paste made only from water, flour and a little bit of sugar.
