If this is a confusing image for you, try googling "grey squirrel persecution UK". I fully understand the idea that squirrels can be pests, but what bothers me is that all the language used to direct vitriol at 'North American' grey squirrels is just coded xenophobia. Native vs. Invader, that old chestnut (or maybe acorn in this case).
