For the uncaged birds

This is a project that has been in the works for well over a year. The Caged Bird Club's intent is to reclaim space in order to make cities more beautiful and livable and that means nature needs to be one of our beneficiaries. Every part of these bird boxes is made from someone else's waste; the wood was tossed out, the paint was returned to the hardware store by unhappy consumers and the bike inner tubes holding the roofs on were punctured beyond repair.

Making noise and dressing up

I do more than just sit around in my pajamas drawing pictures all day. Like playing in a protest Samba band, for instance. We recently played at the Summer Wildlife Carnival at the Waterworks Nature Reserve in Lea Valley Park to show our support for British wildlife and wild spaces in cities. I made paper masks for each band member to wear. Here they are from low to high on the food chain.

Animal: wood mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus)
Diet: seeds
Instrument: tamb

On fabric

In addition to animation, I recently tried my hand at embroidery for the first time. I decided to make a tapestry to celebrate my lovely friends Nicole and Jon getting married and extending their family.

Pivo: A little squirrel dialogue

A conversation between someone's anonymous stencil and my wheatpaste. Original print (with more legible text) can be seen here.

Pivo: neighbourhood cats

In the small row of gardens that mine is in the middle of, (equivalent to a small city block) there are at least three black cats on the prowl. One of them has a very memorable face but Tipsy leaves a more indelible mark when seen from the back.

Pivo says: cats should be outside on a nice day

Exciting new stenciling technique used.
Pasted up on Graham Road in Hackney.

wallpaper design

My partner asked me to make some wallpaper designs for a book he's making. Repetition is great. I wish I had this on my wall now.
